And affiliate marketing is just that.
I'll be defining terminology for you and boarding everything for you right here on my whiteboard.
Affiliate marketing is a jargon- heavy and difficult industry.
All of these words are the same.
Advertisers, publishers, traffic sources, and so on and so forth.
People in everyday life have no idea what that means.
But I'll make an effort to explain things down for you in a way that you can comprehend.
To assist you grasp this terrain, I'll use several examples and illustrations on my whiteboard.
If you want to go into affiliate marketing, this will be extremely useful.
It's a profitable world out there.
I'm an affiliate marketer that runs a multi-
million dollar company.
In my early twenties, I began making millions of dollars.
Hopefully, this has provided you with a solid foundation for understanding the sector.
So, first and foremost, you must comprehend what affiliate marketing is.
It's a commission-
based system.
It sells things online on a commission-
only basis.
It's comp
arable to door-
to-
door salespeople, used car s
alespeople, or telemarketers.
These are persons that contact you on the phone or go door-
to-
door to sell you something.
The Encyclopaedia Britannica was sold a century ago.
These sellers may now offer, "Hey, you could get your family a copy of the Encyclopedia Britannica.
It costs one hundred dollars."
And if they sold you the Encyclopedia Britannica, the firm received $100, and they pocketed $50 or something similar.
Whatever it was, the business made a profit.
Customers contributed funds to make this possible.
It's the same with selling automobiles.
If you buy a car for a thousand dollars from a salesman on a lot, maybe $800 goes to the lot and $200 goes to the salesperson, and you know it came from the client.
It's now pretty similar in affiliate marketing.
It's practically the same thing.
You've got a business, a consumer, and an affiliate on your hands.
Now, the firm offers the consumer the product, and the customer gives the company the money.
The affiliate's job is to establish a link between the firm and the client.
In exchange, the corporation pays the affiliates a commission, and the affiliate links the client with the company, correct?
As a result, it's a large triangular.
It's a pyramid scam, you know.
It's a pyramid, of course.
It's a pyramid, of course.
It's different when they turn it on.
It's simply basic business, right?
It's all about direct response marketing.
In affiliate marketing, a firm with offers is now referred to as an affiliate.
That's how we refer to the items they offer.
Let's assume, returning to the Encyclopedia Britannica example,
The firm that sold the Encyclopedia Britannica could have additional products that the salesman might offer to the customer.
There's a chance they have a Britannica.
They might even be advertising tutoring services to assist people's children with learning English or history.
So, you know, like a real service to assist others in learning more.
Multiple offers might be made by a corporation.
They can give commissions on a number of different things.
In general, there are now tens of thousands, if not millions, of firms with affiliate programs.
Finding all of the numerous affiliate programs that someone would wish to promote becomes quite difficult.
So, how does it work? We have what are known as affiliate networks.
As a result, an affiliate is frequently associated with an affiliate network.
Clickbank, ShareASale, and Avangate Commission Junction are examples of affiliate networks.
Amazon is a network of affiliates.
Walmart has a network of affiliates.
EBay has a network of affiliates.
Target has a network of affiliates.
You may make a commission on each product from a variety of vendors if you have a large number of them.
So, let's assume an affiliate logs on to Amazon.
They may locate any product they wish to promote on Amazon's Affiliate Network in one spot.
They have a wide range of product ideas from which to pick.
Affiliates promote to customers using what's known as a link or URL once again.
It's only important if someone clicks on it.
That's how you link individuals to these businesses.
Now, let's imagine a consumer purchases a product from one of the firms you recommended, such as Amazon.
The money will be paid to you by the affiliate network.
As a result, the affiliate network is paid by the consumer.
Let's assume there are two dollar signs.
In addition, the affiliate network will pay you $1 for joining.
As a result, they get money, and you get a portion of it.
You understand.
That's how much you'll get paid for creating that connection.
Let's use Expedia.com as an example of an affiliate marketing company to make it incredibly simple in your head.
If you've ever purchased a flight online, you've most likely done it through Expedia, Priceline, Orbitz, or one of the many other firms that offer flight booking services.
All of these businesses are involved in affiliate marketing.
Expedia.com does not have any planes in its fleet.
They don't have any control on flying patterns.
Expedia is a partner.
You visit Expedia.com and book a flight with one of the airlines.
You are making a payment to United or American Airlines.
Expedia.com receives a commission for connecting you with that flight by linking you with Expedia.com.
It's the same rationale that applies to Airbnb and Uber.
These are firms that specialize in affiliate marketing.
Airbnb does not have any hotel properties.
Uber does not have any vehicles of its own.
They're just connecting you with someone who is willing to rent out their space to you, or they're connecting you with someone who will drive you someplace.
And creating that connection earns Uber or Airbnb a small commission.
They don't have any inventory, yet again.
They're merely connecting the dots.
You may make a living as an affiliate marketer.
To build that connection, all you need is a link.
You can also get a little commission if someone utilizes your service.
If you don't receive a ride somewhere, Uber no longer makes any money.
Isn't that reasonable?
Uber does not make any money if you simply download the app.
Uber is only profitable when you engage a driver to take you someplace.
In a nutshell, that's what affiliate marketing is.
Now, I hope that clarifies things for you.
It's a complicated world, but when it comes down to it, it's pretty simple.
You're just building connections and earning commissions for assisting in the acquisition of those connections.
Like Airbnb, Uber, hotels.com, cars.com, and any of the other firms.
